Specific grade level content

Preschool

Our preschoolers learn Bible stories in conjunction with a monthly theme. For example, in September they study self concept. The coordinating Bible story is creation, emphasizing that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and that God’s rules are for the purpose of protecting us.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten also follows a monthly theme and connects Biblical content to that theme. During the month of December, the children learn the many names for Christ as well as the practical application of those names in our everyday Christian walk. Three basic rules of the kindergarten classroom are scriptural based:

  • Be kind to one another
  • Admit when you are wrong and say, “I’m sorry, will you forgive me?”
  • Treat our classroom and equipment with respect.

Grade 1

The topic for grade one is The God of Impossibilities. The year is divided into four quarters as follows:

  • God’s New World
  • God’s Covenant
  • The Son of God
  • Jesus Does the Impossible.

During the fourth quarter, the children learn that Jesus has power over nature, over our bodies, over life and death, and power to heal our minds.

Grade 2

Second graders learn character traits found in scripture through a study of the Old Testament saints like Joshua, Daniel, Job, and Esther. From the life of Peter they learn to find self-control and how to accept others. The Apostle Paul teaches them to encourage others and to share their faith.

Grade 3

Our third graders study the books of Acts and the Pauline Epistles to learn how God builds His church. They begin with Jesus’ ascension and end with Jesus’ command to go into the entire world and preach the gospel.

Grade 4

Fourth graders study the lives of Elijah, Esther, and Nehemiah. They learn helps for daily living as exhibited through these saints’ lives.

Grade 5

The story of God and his people is at the heart of fifth grade Bible curriculum. Students understand the stories in their historical context, ask themselves the question, ”What does this have to do with me?”, and are challenged to allow their hearts to be touched and changed.

The outline of study is as follows:

  • Writings in the Pentateuch and books of history
  • Writings in the books of poetry
  • The Prophetic writings
  • Gospel writings: Jesus’ birth and early ministry, death, resurrection, and ascension
  • Luke writes about the early church
  • New Testament letters and the book of prophecy

Grade 6

Sixth graders learn to Win the Race. Their topics of study include:

  • Preparing for the race
  • Developing inner strength
  • Striving for the prize
  • Hindrances to the runner
  • Pressing toward the goal
