LEONARDO DAVINCI AND HIS NOTEBOOKS: A YEAR IN ART AT VALLEY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

FUN FOR ALL AT THE 2007 VCS ART SHOW AND SILENT AUCTION

VCS Art Show

Once again Valley Christian School is pleased to devote an evening to ART, a core component of the curriculum offered at VCS. While the A-B-C’s and 1-2-3’s often garner the most attention in today’s schools, Valley whole-heartily values the skills developed through a structured and developmentally appropriate ART program. The children of VCS under the direction of Mrs. Rita Carswell embark on an exploration fashioned after the notebooks of Leonardo DaVinci. This year’s works will feature observation drawings, landscapes, line and value drawing as well as printmaking. The ART Program at Valley encourages students as they develop their critical-thinking and problem-solving skill sets. ART also enables the children to employ higher-level thinking skills such as creativity, self expression and imagination. Valley is please to invite you to an evening of ART on May 4, 2007.

The Silent Auction

This year the VCS Auction will kick into high gear with a visit from a Philadelphia institution, SWOOP, the mascot of the Philadelphia Eagles. If you want to visit with SWOOP, and get an autograph, arrive early as he’ll be flying on the scene at 6:30 pm. SWOOP will visit with us for one hour. As SWOOP works the crowd the anticipation and excitement of the auction will be rising to fever pitch. As in years past, the auction will be packed with great items for everyone. Categories include Vacation & Travel, Museums & Movies, Dining, Sports and Collectibles to name a few. Join us for the excitement as bids are placed on featured items such as Disney, Amtrak, American Girl and Knoebels. This is a fun time for a great cause.

Highlights of the Night

A moderately priced dinner begins at 6:00 PM. Tour the VCS Museum of Art while visiting with SWOOP. Bid on your favorite items and take home a keepsake VCS Auction Program which features dedications from friends and family of VCS.

If you are interested in securing space in the program please contact the school office at 215-947-4581 for more information.
