CHRISTMAS CLASSIC – “A CHRISTMAS CAROL”
TO BE PRESENTED AT VALLEY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA NOVEMBER 18, 2006: The world’s most miserable miser ever – Ebeneezer Scrooge – humbugs his way through yet another Christmas only to experience an incredible change late Christmas Eve in Charles Dickens’ immortal classic “A CHRISTMAS CAROL” to be staged by Maranatha Productions, Inc., of Lancaster, PA

Set in the snowy streets of Victorian London, “A CHRISTMAS CAROL” tells the timeless story of the stingy, tightfisted, and rather irascible curmudgeon Ebeneezer Scrooge. To Scrooge, who spends long, glum days behind his counting house desk avariciously counting and stacking, then gleefully re-counting and re-stacking the hoarded coins of his wealth, Christmas is “nothing more than a poor excuse to pick a man’s pocket every December 25th! Everything that is Christmas is just “a lot of humbug!” Until midnight one Christmas Eve when – most unexpectedly – he is visited by his late business partner – Jacob Marley and three joyous Christmas spirits who change his mind and attitude about Christmas and life forever!

Authentically-costumed, “A CHRISTMAS CAROL” will delight audiences of all ages as Ebeneezer Scrooge’s bleak and parsimonious world is brought to life one Christmas Eve. Brought to life by the glorious spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future who take Ebeneezer Scrooge on an amazing journey backward and forward, moving from one Christmas Eve encounter to yet another in his own life!

Erik Nelson, from Lancaster, PA portrays Scrooge with a sarcastic disgust and utter contempt for all things Christmas that encrusts a stone cold heart yet brings warmth to the hearts of his audience! A professional actor, Erik was most recently seen in the made-for TV movie ‘UNTOLD STORIES OF US NAVY SEALS,” aired nationally on The Learning Channel, playing American hero Lt Bruce Walker, felled in the line of duty in Vietnam. He is the host of the weekly fitness TV show “Energize with Erik,” aired throughout the United Kingdom and much of Europe. He travels throughout the US portraying Chet Bitterman, a 28-year old Bible translator from Lancaster, PA, who was kidnapped by rebel guerrillas in Bogota, Colombia, in January 1981, held hostage for 47 days, then martyred on the morning of the 48th in the live drama “MARTYRED: THE CHET BITTERMAN STORY.” He is the host of the “Power Swing” infomercial currently airing nationally and has played many principal roles in industrial films for such corporate giants as Rite Aid, Prudential Insurance, and Giant Food Stores. He commutes to Montego Bay, Jamaica, to be the featured performed in the tourist theatre production “Jamaica Alive!” and tours England during the Lenten season portraying “Jesus Christ” in the PASSION PLAY.
